Peugeot Rear / Back Axle Rebuilding - Rebuilt and lubed for life

 

The problem...

Peugeot and Citroen cars leave the factory with no lubrication in the back axle bearings and no means of lubrication. The seal, fitted to keep out dirt and water, has no chance of working in such conditions and quickly fails. Water pours in around the needle roller bearings and, because there is no lubricant, they quickly rust and seize on the shaft. The car then handles badly and will fail an MOT test.

Up until now the cure has been to fit a second hand axle or a replacement axle beam from Peugeot.

While this gets the car back on the road, the prospects of a long and happy life are no better than the were before. Indeed, given that they can fail at 50,000 miles from new, a second hand axle may have very limited life left.

  The axles are rebuilt using new axle pins, bearings and seals.

What makes ours different is that the whole trailing arm casting is completely filled with a special lubricant which floods the bearings for their whole life. The seal, which does not last long ex factory, will last forever with the lubricant packed in behind it. The water and dirt which caused the damage in it's first lifetime cannot get past the seal and the lubricant to damage the bearings.

We do not fit back plates or brake hubs

Transport.

We offer a next day service anywhere on the UK mainland using TNT. All carriers charge a bit extra for islands and islanders themselves usually know the best way to move goods to and from.

All our sales are done an exchange basis so each transaction will involve transport two ways. The carrier is TNT, who give an excellent next day service all over the UK mainland.

When we sell from stock we will send your new axle out and collect the old one when it is available. If we do not have one to suit you we can offer to re-manufacture your own axle. This takes two days, one day to do the work and another for the three coats of two pack epoxy paint to dry. It is then delivered overnight ready to fit.
